Dr. Roy Guster was born in Chicago, Illinois, and spent his childhood in the historic Bronzeville community on Chicago’s south side.
Dr. Guster graduated from DuSable High School in 1961. Following high school, he attended DePaul University and the University of Illinois at Chicago. In 1966, Dr. Guster enrolled in Meharry Medical College, School of Dentistry and obtained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 1970.
After graduation from Meharry, Dr. Guster served two years as a Captain in the United States Army Dental Corps. Upon leaving military service, Dr. Guster worked with the Chicago Board of Health before establishing his own practice.
Dr. Guster has practiced dentistry in the Washington Heights community for almost 50 years. His academic pursuits and technological advances have included undertaking post-graduate education at Loyola University School of Dentistry, Northwestern University School of Dentistry and the University of Illinois College of Dentistry as well as other institutions.
In order to keep abreast of changes within the profession, his affiliations have included memberships in the American Dental Association®, the Illinois Dental State Society, the Chicago Dental Association, the National Dental Association and the Lincoln Dental Society.
As a member of the Chicago Dental Society, Dr. Guster has received an award for 35 years of exemplary service to the community. An honor of emeritus status was bestowed by the Academy of General Dentistry for 30 years of membership and distinguished service. He, also, received a dedicated service award from the Lincoln Dental Society.
